North Pole Times — Frequently Asked Questions

Santa’s Official News Source • Trusted Worldwide

The North Pole Times is Santa’s official news source — the place where children can read real stories from the North Pole written by Santa’s elves. It was created for one simple reason: to help keep the Christmas spirit alive.

Founded in 1995, The North Pole Times was created by a team of real broadcast news professionals, including award-winning producers, sports reporters, graphic artists, and senior engineers. Even the News Director helped write stories, bringing the structure, credibility, and excitement of a real newsroom to Santa’s world.

The site can be enjoyed completely free, with no ads and no distractions, allowing children to explore the North Pole just as it has always been.

Over the years, we’ve also added optional ways for parents and guardians to personalize the experience. Personalization allows families to become part of the story, while helping support the care and upkeep of the site — but it is never required to enjoy the magic.

Today, The North Pole Times receives millions of page views each Christmas season and is ranked as the #2 most-trafficked holiday website for children in the world, according to SEMrush.

That balance of heart, professionalism, and holiday magic is what makes the experience feel believable, immersive, and unforgettable for children.

The Seasonal Membership unlocks every magical feature for your family from Thanksgiving through Christmas, including:

  • Daily Santa Texts
  • Elf Text
  • Naughty or Nice List (update anytime)
  • Terrific Task Tuesday
  • Email from Santa
  • A personalized, password-protected Secret Page for each child tied to your account

Everything is unlimited and available all season long.

Some North Pole Times features are personalized for one specific child. When you purchase or activate one of these features, you “lock” it to the child you selected so Santa knows exactly who the magic is for.

Examples of features that lock to a child:

  • Naughty or Nice List
  • Terrific Task Tuesday
  • Email from Santa
  • Secret Page

Features not locked to a child (you can use them for anyone):

  • Elf Text
  • Daily Santa Text (sent to a phone number, not to a specific child)

This helps keep your account organized and ensures each child receives the right magical content on their own page.

In previous years, all personalized content was tied directly to the member’s account. The account-holder had to log in to the main North Pole Times website to see anything — and if a child lived in a different home, the only way for them to view their magic was for the account-holder to share their full login credentials.

This created two big limitations:

  • Children couldn’t access their own content independently
  • Sharing login credentials gave them access to the entire account

The new system fixes all of that.

Now:

  • Each child gets their own Secret Page
  • Each child gets their own passcode
  • The account-holder keeps full control of the account
  • Children can view their magic securely from anywhere

Most importantly:
A child’s Secret Page is read-only on the front end.
They can see their magic, but they cannot access or change anything in the back end where the magic is created.

This keeps the experience safe, secure, and controlled — while allowing children in any household or location to enjoy their personalized North Pole world without accessing your full account.

If you purchase features individually, you can add as many children as you would like — each product is tied to one child at a time. Each child you add receives unlimited use of that product until December 31 each year, with the exceptions noted below.

With the Seasonal Membership, you can add up to 7 children under a single membership. Every child gets full access to all included features, and each one can use them unlimited through December 31.

Product use limits
  • Elf Text: 50 total messages per membership or per single purchase
  • Daily Santa Text: 1 subscription per season (single or membership)
  • All other products: Unlimited use until December 31

This makes the Seasonal Membership the best value for families with multiple children.

First, sign in to your account and select your child using the red “Select a Child” menu in the upper-right corner. Then open their Secret Page — that’s where all of their Christmas magic lives.

From the Secret Page, your child can use the navigation at the top to explore:

  • Naughty or Nice List — see their current Naughty or Nice status
  • Post Office → Get Mail from Santa — read their personalized Email From Santa
  • Terrific Task Tuesday — go to News, then select Terrific Task Tuesdays to view their featured good deed and story when it’s their week

Everything is connected to the Secret Page, so once your child is there, they can easily find all of their personalized North Pole surprises in one place.

Each child has their own password-protected Secret Page — accessible anywhere in the world. This page is the gateway to all of their personalized North Pole magic.

When a child enters through their Secret Page, the system knows which child is visiting. This allows NorthPoleTimes.com to show their personalized content instead of generic content.

Inside the Secret Page, your child can see:

  • Their Naughty or Nice status
  • Their Nice List streak
  • Email from Santa in the Post Office
  • Their Terrific Task Tuesday story and award (if personalized)
  • Other messages and surprises from Santa’s team

If a child visits the site without going through their Secret Page first, they will see generic North Pole content, not their personalized experience. This is normal and helps keep each child’s page private and secure.

Think of the Secret Page as your child’s private doorway into the North Pole — once they enter through it, everything inside becomes their story.

Every Secret Page works from anywhere in the world. Once the child is added to your account, they can sign in from any home, any device, and any location to view their personalized North Pole magic.

To share the Secret Page with them, simply:

  • Copy and paste the link to their Secret Page, or
  • Click the envelope icon in the Child Edit dropdown at the top of your account page to send it directly

All the child needs is:

  • The link
  • Their Secret Page passcode
  • An internet connection

We suggest the child or their parent/guardian bookmark the Secret Page so it is easy to return to throughout the season.

No matter where they live — with another parent, a guardian, or in a different state — they can open their Secret Page, check their Naughty or Nice status, read Email from Santa, view Terrific Task Tuesday stories, and enjoy all their personalized content.

Email from Santa is a personalized message you write that Santa delivers directly to your child’s Secret Page on NorthPoleTimes.com. For safety and parental control, it is not sent to a child’s personal email address.

Once delivered, your child can read their message by visiting their Secret Page and going to: Post Office → Get Mail from Santa.

You choose the delivery date when setting it up. If the delivery date is in the future, the email will not appear yet. You can edit the delivery date at any time if you’d like it available sooner.

If you don’t see the Email from Santa, make sure the correct child is selected using the red “Select a Child” dropdown in the upper-right corner, especially if you have more than one child or similar names.

Delivering Email from Santa through the Secret Page allows parents to control when and how their child experiences their mail from the North Pole — keeping the moment magical, safe, and special.

Santa sends your child a message every day from Thanksgiving morning through Christmas Day. Messages are written fresh daily by the North Pole Times — warm, playful, and full of believable Christmas magic.

If you purchased the Seasonal Membership, Daily Santa Text is included. If you purchased it separately, you are also set for the season.

Not for Daily Santa Text — those come directly from Santa. But for Elf Text, yes. You write the message, and the elf sends it instantly.
Elf Text lets you send magical elf messages to anyone you choose. You write the message. An elf delivers it from the North Pole. It is perfect for encouragement, surprises, reminders, or a bit of holiday fun.
At this time, no. Elf Text messages are sent using the official North Pole Times elf signature. We are not currently set up to allow custom elf names, but your message will still arrive with the same North Pole magic.

Every Tuesday, Toomer Elf highlights a child who completed a kind, helpful, or thoughtful task. Your child’s story becomes a real North Pole Times article, complete with:

  • Their name
  • Their city
  • Their helpful deed
  • An optional photo
  • A weekly award badge

It is one of our most heartwarming features.

It is Santa’s official Post Office inbox — a direct way to send your child magical, personalized messages. Add details, special instructions, or fun holiday moments, and Santa replies with a custom letter.
